Thanks for the info on the two monitor set up. No problems with the cockpit views however… I've been running some flights (and had some nice flights now that most everything is working) I've taken going to the model view and just letting it run in that mode for awhile, but it remains very jerky with just occasional smooth running, maybe 30 seconds at most and then in what seems only at level flight. Figure if I can understand it, most should as well. I'll load what you've just posted, see how it works and report back.Īt some point when we get things all tweaked and running I'll create a set of instructions of how to load the these files to the correct folder as well as how to go in and open and see/edit the xml files for us Mac users. I tried substituting the script from the yoke file for the trim to the trim file, but that didn't work either, trim wheel still freezes everything. When I restarted, the trim wheel moved just the slightest and then it froze the program. I removed the trim wheel text from the yoke control leaving that switch blank/useless. In a way I'm a bit ahead of you- I actually figured out how to see the xml using view source and then copying it to Mac's Text Edit. Then you need to start the fgpanel program as follows:Ĭode: Select all fgpanel -fg-root=/Applications/FlightGear.app/Contents/Resources/data/ -panel=/Applications/FlightGear.app/Contents/Resources/data/Aircraft/c172p/Panels/FGPanel_c172p.xmlĪs I said, I haven't run it myself, and it may be a bit tricky. (You may need to replace "localhost" with the IP address of your laptop) From reading the README file, you'll need to add the following command-line options:Ĭode: Select all -generic=socket,out,10,localhost,5432,udp,/Applications/FlightGear.app/Contents/Resources/data/Aircraft/c172p/Panels/FGPanel_Protocol_c172p.xml The basic idea is to start flightgear with some additional options to output data. I haven't used it myself, but there are some details here. It is possible to run a separate window with the flight panel only. Could you try using that instead and see if you still get a crash when using the trim wheel? I've removed the trim control from this yoke configuration. I've uploaded a modified yoke configuration file here. You guess could be correct, and might explain why other people running Macs with Saitek yokes etc. And to be greedy, back to an earlier question- is it a possibility to run a separate window on the laptop with the flight panel, leaving the larger monitor to the view(s)? Thinking quite a few might find that helpful.įinally, what's the word on child number two? Anytime now?Īgain, thank you for stepping up and being willing to do all this. I'm surprised at how much came back to me about flying, but a lot is fuzzy and looking forward to the lessons, then at some point will perhaps see about lessons in an actual plane. I'm very excited and now feel I can start the flight tutorials before I develop any more bad habits. I still need to learn how to do/work the radios/communication, but figure that will come a bit later. The price paid for the show was it knocked the power out.Įverything seems to be working the way it should, in business with the rudder pedals (can actually stay on the runway center line now!) Of course, a few minor things: using the trim wheel still shuts things down- my uneducated guess is due to a conflict with the trim control set up on yoke? The views and changing back and forth between them is still jerky, but like you said, once they get loaded (having reloaded the latest files you sent) and settled in, they should be fine. First and foremost- THANK YOU so very much for all your effort and work- I'm literally up and flying! I would have been back to you sooner, but we had an amazing thunderstorm come through here last night with magnificent displays of lighting and house rumbling thunder.
